Screws & Bolts
Material
- A4 steel
- very low magnetic activity, chemically resistant, fairly costly
- → preferred material for screws in the experiment
- Zinc plated mild steel
- cheap, strong ferromagnetism, screws tend to stick exsessively in aluminium threading after a few weeks
- → avoid close to atom experiments and in aluminium
- Polyamid (PA)
- electrical insulator, thermal insulator, mechanically weak - in particular smallish sizes (M4 and below), tends to give over time
- → not recommended. Better solutions involve polymer washers and/or ceramics
Torx (TX)
